What happens when one of Germany’s best soul singers crosses over to the world of alternative rock? Singer Charles Simmons with Dennis Poschwatta, Henning Rümenapp and Stefan Ude come together to form an exciting new band under the name iO (pronounced “eye-oh”).
Their sound is Crossover of the highest caliber: heavy guitars coupled with the sometimes soft and soulful, sometimes furiously rock-tinged vocals of frontman Charles: a sound that fits somewhere in your CD collection between Living Color, Nirvana and No Doubt. iO walks on a similar path like Jimi Hendrix, Prince and Michael Jackson before them; an explosive mix of Rock and Soul, with music and lyrics that are dynamic and catchy, yet full of depth and emotion.
iO is a brand new band, but it's members are no newcomers to the music scene: Dennis, Henning and Stefan were members of Germany’s most successful alternative rock bands of all time, the Guano Apes. Charles has worked with many national and international artists, including Shaggy, Mary J. Blige and the Backstreet Boys. Despite their acclaim as individauls, the band iO is starting from scratch, setting out to excite and impress audiences not with the successes of the past, but with a sound and attitude aimed toward the future.
